Enterpreneurs who act quickly can still take advantage of 7-Eleven current offer to waive its franchise fee for more than 200 stores in select markets around the United States. The application deadline is Sept. 30.
7‑Eleven started the Zero Franchise Fee program in 2015 following a period of rapid growth, and brought it back in both 2016 and 2017. Currently, there are more than 200 eligible stores available in metro areas like Buffalo, N.Y., and Jacksonville. Fla., as well as Richmond and Hampton Roads, Va.
Waiving the franchise fee saves up to $80,000, but franchise owners are still responsible for licensing, permits and the initial down-payment on inventory, totaling about $30,000. Other 7‑Eleven franchise requirements include being at least 21 years old and a permanent U.S. resident, having excellent credit and $50,000 in liquid assets. Some stores in the program may qualify for additional, limited-time financial support, if they have typical sales volume below the national average.
“The Zero Franchise Fee program … has provided an attainable, affordable entry point for many people wanting to go into business on their own,” said Larry Hughes, 7‑Eleven vice president of Franchise Systems. And “the company has gained greater diversity with more military veterans and Hispanics joining the franchisee family.”
